Historisches Museum Frankfurt is the city’s oldest museum and one of the largest city museums in Europe.
Located in the heart of Frankfurt’s old town, it comprises the 800-year-old Saalhof as well as the new building inaugurated in 2017. Eight exhibitions spread across 6000 m² address topics related to the city’s past, present, and future. Changing special exhibitions and the participatory City Lab address topical questions. The award-winning museum also includes Junges Museum with its special programme for children and Porzellan Museum with its collection of porcelain.
The museum rooms in Haus zur Goldenen Waage, one of the most beautiful Renaissance half-timbered houses in Frankfurt’s new Old Town, are also part of Historisches Museum.
