It’s one of the most beautiful museums in the world and comes with a trunkful of tricks: The Caricatura Museum with its works by the “New Frankfurt School” has the highest humor content in the museum scene.
The drawings by F. W. Bernstein, Robert Gernhardt, Chlodwig Poth, Hans Traxler, and F. K. Waechter are presented in a permanent exhibition. The only museum of the fine art of comics in Europe showcases the range of the genre in caricatures, illustrated stories, cartoons and comics. Additional contemporary protagonists of comical drawing are presented in temporary exhibitions.
Caricatura Museum Frankfurt was awarded the State of Hessen Cultural Prize in 2020 for its unique commitment to caricature and the art of comics.
